It’s a Sunday and you’ve decided against the usual chicken dinner. Instead, there’s a generous slab of the best farm-raised salmon money can buy in the oven. Baked Fresh Sardines

Take a peek into our cupboards and you’ll almost always find one or two tins of sardines on stock. It’s a very versatile fish and particularly frugal from a tin. A welcome combination of my recipes for potato cakes and sardine fritters, these Sardine Fish Cakes provide yet another inexpensive way of fitting fish into a frugal diet. Trust me, these cakes really are the perfect way to see out a hard week at work, served alongside a wedge of lemon, a hearty portion of chips and a ramekin of tartare sauce.

Smoked Mackerel Pate Recipe

There we have it, folks – to all intents and purposes, Christmas is over for another year, though I do hope that each and every one of your trees will remain erect until the 6th of January. Of course, this means that it is no longer reasonable to post any further overtly festive recipes. Still, there’s no reason at all why you shouldn’t set eyes on one or two of the treats that found their way to the table on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Indeed, this recipe for smoked mackerel pâté is rather spectacular.
